“SO Ace! Absolutely cracking.. That record is properly brilliant, not one bad track.”

Lauren Laverne, BBC 6Music

"Cardiff quintet The Method have dosed their recording with Happy Feet pills, bringing ska-styled horn trappings to bear on slashing guitars, a catchy chorus, and throaty vocals from Richie Hayes. Guaranteed to work up a sweat just listening to it. The flip opens with a stalking surf guitar riff and Richie’s Julian Cope meets Billy Idol snarl before wailing horns and a pounding backbeat threaten to knock the needle off the turntable. Heavy stuff with a bit of a punky garage pedigree. A new single is due shortly and if it’s as exciting as this, the album should be a killer. More proof that Cardiff is an exciting place for music these days."

Jeff Penczak, Shindig! Magazine

"‘A fiercesome live band whose musical DNA can be traced through a heritage of punk, soul, ska, R’n’B and reggae, this thrill-seeking outfit proved they were no retro throwbacks with averitable rip-snorter of a debut single. Whip Around pulsated with youthful urgency’

Bands to watch 2011. Dave Owens, The Western Mail

“Great band!”

Bethan Elfyn, BBC Radio 1

“A mix of northern soul, 60’s funk and mod. They're fantastic!”

Matt Johnson, ITV

“This is psyche, noisy, dubby, noisy wonder reminiscent of new Bristol heroes Malakai….I’m delighted to say that we love it”

BBC Bristol Introducing

"I really like! This is ace. Well done… It's like Calexico, The Specials and the Yardbirds all in one."

Adam Walton, BBC Radio Wales

“The Method's dance crazed enthusiasm and refusal to treat their influences with overt reverence gives them the air of true originals, and they're an actual pop group into the bargain.”

Tasty Fanzine

“Lead singer Rich and his cronies play fantastically energetic, ear-throbbingly good music with a menacing stage presence. Combined with the roaring riffs and synth-infused melodies, The Method demand body movement and active audience participation.”

Caught In the Crossfire

“The Method, have a new convert! Please, please check them out… They have a 60s garage-rock, psychedelic influenced sound, with some danceable soul beats. Like The Coral and The Zutons (only edgier)!”

The Beat Surrender

Few Cardiff bands, when playing live, truly resonate at quite the same molecular level of The Method. And if their forthcoming recorded album brings the same rich-garage-brass-ball-shakalaka of single Whiparound, then it’s going to be something to truly savour. Trumpet bombasts, throbbing bass, sharp riffs and some serious air-to-ground drumming precision - all are contained in these three and a half minutes. Yet somehow it feels deliciously uncramped. The secret seems to be in fusing danceable soul riffage with more spacious psych interludes. Whatever it is, they have it in country-sized portions. Tune in and wig out.

New single Art Gallery Imminent! Available for pre-order

‘Art Gallery’ combines an incessant, foot to the floor driving rhythm with numerous stops, starts, pauses and crescendos. Its main Beatles-like melody cajoling itself through all manner of psychedelic effects, surf guitar lines and trumpet break. The three-minute running time over rides specific references to create a future radio smash akin to Julian Cope’s anthemic ‘World Shut Your Mouth’. Capturing the unbridled essence of The Cramps, The Coral and pre-Steppenwolf ’60s garage/psych band The Sparrow it’s a fast paced, pounding affair that has all the hallmarks of a good old hit record.

Art Gallery is released on Limited Edition 7" Orange Coloured Vinyl on the 5th March 2012.

Welsh bands set to cause a stir in 2012

"One of the hardest working bands in Wales, they invariably bring the party with their finely-honed, brass-injected punk, funk, soul and rock ‘n’ roll sound that will get any joint jumping. Their recent collaboration with the super smart clothing label Art Gallery was a neat bit of ingenious cross-marketing that saw the London-based clobber merchants design a stylishly knitted three button black polo shirt for The Method. In return the band penned a song – fittingly enough titled Art Gallery – in their honour. The tune, a swaggering slice of bruised brass-infused street suss which wears its confidence on its finely tailored sleeve, is also co-incidentally The Method’s new single."

The Method aim to get their stylish show on the road

‘YOU need wheels if you want to make deals,’ sang long forgotten South London stylists The Merton Parkas.

The mod revival outfit had a point – if you’re in a band a set of wheels are essential to go about your everyday business.

If y‘YOU need wheels if you want to make deals,’ sang long forgotten South London stylists The Merton Parkas.

The mod revival outfit had a point – if you’re in a band a set of wheels are essential to go about your everyday business.

If you’re ace faces The Method – Cardiff live favourites and one of the hardest gigging bands out of South Wales, a reliable motor is essential.

That’s why we were saddened to hear that the boys’ formerly trusty and reliable jalopy Vannie (yes really!) had blown up on its way to gigs in Europe, and had finally succumbed to the great scrapyard in the sky.

That’s why the outfit, signed to Cardiff’s reliably ace record label See Monkey Do Monkey, are now saving furiously for a new van.

'Dissidents & Dancers' review feature on Modculture

So how do you describe a band like The Method? The lazy review of Dissidents and Dancers would be to say 'if you like The Coral or like The Bees, you'll love The Method.' But we're not lazy - and I need to bump up the word count.

Out of Cardiff, The Method are the musical equivalent of a sponge, taking (less-obvious) influences from the fields of 60s beat, garage and psych, not to mention the likes of two tone, old school indie (when the word meant something) and punk to create a sound that's unique, but with more than a touch of familiarity to the educated ear.

Shindig! Happening Magazine Feature!

Cardiff has been continually supplying us with top-notch bands in recent years and THE METHOD may be the best one yet. PHIL ISTINE packs his dancing shoes and sets off for planet Subversive Pop to meet singer Richie Hayes.

Some genres: punk, soul, ska, dub, soundtracks. Some bands: The Specials, The Bees, The Teardrop Explodes. None of these or other prompts could adequately prepare you for the onslaught of listening to Dissidents And Dancers, the debut album by five-piece Cardiff based Welsh wonders The Method. There’s an innate confidence to a band that can swallow up all these elements, make you think of certain records but at the same time leave you floundering to find accurate adjectives to do the songs justice.

Surrender to their beat. Resistance, as they say, is futile. (Wales Online Album Launch Review)

EXPECTANCY hangs heavier in the air than a tubby fella on a bungee rope as soul stylists and the sharpest boys about town The Method launched their long awaited debut album at The Globe’s equally well-heeled surrounds.

Having cultivated an enviable reputation as one of Wales’ finest live bands given their penchant for constant gigging, the Cardiff outfit’s shows are inevitably riotous assemblies – a mass of bodies shaking some action to The Method’s whip smart brand of wired dynamics. Thankfully this gig is no different.

The Method tipped for 2011, and Best of 2010 in ITV, BBC Radio & Western Mail!

The album teasing single Whip Around was hailed by BBC Radio 1’s Adam Walton as a top release of the year and they got to perform the track on ITV’s The Wales Show. Their appearance was repeated on the show’s ‘Best of’ compilation alongside Joy Formidable, Duffy and Charlotte Church. They also joined Colorama in the Top Welsh Sounds list compiled by the Western Mail and The South Wales Echo.

‘A fiercesome live band whose musical DNA can be traced through a heritage of punk, soul, ska, R’n’B and reggae, this thrill-seeking outfit proved they were no retro throwbacks with averitable rip-snorter of a debut single.
